The best people to speak about our expertise and the way we operate are our clients and employees.

Corporate banking
As a dynamic business owner you are looking for a bank that’s prepared to be your business partner. GE Artesia is more entrepreneur than traditional bank. But what does a partnership look like on a day-today basis? Here’s what the Corporate Banking department told us …
"Banking is a fast-moving business, and you can’t afford to adopt the traditional approach of waiting for people to come to you. Our staff adopts a proactive role in forming relationships with clients and resolving their financial issues.
An example of best practice: we had a client who spent twenty years building up his own trading business and then sold it to a big international company. He’d also become a silent partner in a new company, and because he had such a good relationship with us he asked whether we could finance its working capital. We were able to offer a suitable credit solution in a very short space of time, and then the whole company switched to GE Artesia Bank. The company has grown significantly since then.
GE Artesia corporate banking focuses mainly on large clients, with a preference for those operating not just in the Netherlands but internationally. We started out as a commercial bank, and we particularly specialise in international payment solutions. Our aim is always to achieve operational excellence, which means not just having relevant know-how but using it effectively for the benefit of our clients."

Trade and Commodity Finance
Of course you’d like to know more about all the possibilities for financing your trade transactions. We asked the Trade and Commodity Finance department at GE Artesia exactly how they operate …
"We specialise in financing trade transactions for large and medium-sized businesses. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution: every transaction is unique, and so is the financing. It’s not just about the technicalities of the transaction; it’s also about understanding the local market and economy, incoterms, European legislation and even having the right social skills – all of which we’re very good at!
An example of best practice: we had a client recently who wanted to export trucks to Africa. We were able to advise them on using letters of credit for purchases and sales, shipping facilities, country risk confirmations and delivery terms, so the whole transaction went as smoothly as possible. Once the structure was clear and acceptable to all parties, lots of other deals followed.
We’ve also handled transactions involving steel from Brazil, grain from Ukraine, nuts from China, oil for the bunker markets in Western Europe and Singapore, and chemicals from China. A lot of others have been set up as international commodity trade finance transactions. We like to assess each situation on its own merits. "
This tailor-made approach to trade financing meets the needs of many business owners. For more information, please contact the GE Artesia Trade and Commodity Finance Team in Rotterdam.
